When you find yourself hitting the open road and you know it will be a lengthy drive, don’t tell yourself that you will just pick something up along the way. Fast food is convenient and that is about it. Most fast food places don’t have food that is any kind of healthy for you. Yes, some have salads and fruits, but how long has that “freshly made salad” been sitting in the mini fridge behind the counter? Maybe it was fresh when it was shipped, but that was a good four days ago. Take a little extra time to think about what you could take on the road to prevent you from any fast food temptation. If you are worried about making a mess in your vehicle, take a snack that is easy to get out and in a wrapper or container that isn’t hard to open. Taking a Ziploc baggy filled with grapes, apple slices, or even your favorite dry cereal is a quick and easy way to have a snack on the go without much hassle or mess. If a little snack won’t be enough to tide you over, make a sandwich and a granola bar with you. These are generally things you already have stocked in your house, so you won’t have to make an extra trip to the grocery store. On top of that they are good for you and they taste good to. So next time when you feel that you should just pick a snack up on the way, take a few extra minutes to pack yourself a nutritious and delicious snack instead.
