This week we decided to find awesome places in New York. When I was searching, the first thing that popped up I thought was very exciting. Every year they have one week during the summer called New York Summer Restaurant Week. During this week you can dine in Manhattans best restaurants for half the price. During this week, they will serve 3-course lunches for $24.07 and 3-course dinners for $35. Participating restaurants include Dos Caminos, Pastis, Nobu, Tao, One if by Land Two if By Sea, Blue Water Grill, and many others.
So I thought I would tell you a little bit more about these restaurants.
First of all, Dos Caminos is an excellent mexican restaurant. They have got some of the best margaritas, even thought they run about $12 a piece but they are excellent. The guacamole is amazing, and it is a good place for groups. They have a very festive vibe and outside seating for those of you who like the outdoors.
Nobu is excellent for japanese cuisine. It opened in 1994 in New York City. They have an excellent crab salad that is a little on the pricier side but well worth it, very generous with the crab meat.
Tao specializes in Hong Kong, Chinese, and Thai cuisines. This restaurant was oringinally a 19th century stable and then got turned into a baloconied theatre, and then into a majestic asian temple. There is a 16 foot tall buddha that "floats" above the virtual reflecting pool complete with japanese carp that can be seen from anywhere in the restaurant. This restaurant has three levels of seating so theres always room for more people. There is a sushi bar and 2 full service bars.
One if by Land, Two if by Sea is all-american cuisine. Though it is a little pricier running about $80 per person for the average check. It was voted most romantic restaurant. Their signature dishes are the american loin of lamb, quickly seared buffalo rib-eye, sauteed gulf shrimp, beef wellington, and halibut poached in coconut milk.
Blue Water Grill was voted 11th most popular restaurant in New York in 2008. It is located in the heart of union square. There is a marble and majestic urban setting with a variety of seafood entrees. From the sushi bar to the oyster bar there is every kind of seafood you would want. Blue Water Grill offers a Sunday-brunch-with-a-view overlooking union square.
