Traverse City, Michigan
Traverse City, Michigan…the home of the Cherry Capital. Traverse City is known for its National Cherry Festival, which is from July 5-12. There they celebrate their fruits, rolling hills, and vineyards. This is only one of the main attractions in Traverse City. They also have many more vineyard trails that are offered at other times of the year. The city is great for both day trips and over night stays. The beautiful city offers everything from shopping, hiking, biking, canoeing, and golfing.
I think it would be a great day for a mother and daughter trip. They have all kinds of shops that range from boutiques, antique shops, galleries, and specialty stores that line the streets downtown. How could you not find a store you like? I know I could!
If you’re not with the ladies, or into shopping, maybe some outdoor adventure would make a great day for you. In the city they have a spectacular range of trails and hills where you can find some way of using them. They offer bikes that you could rent or clear paths that you could take a walk on. Also, there are two beautiful rivers, Pine Boardman and Betsie, which you could rent a canoe or kayak to take down.
Along with the biking, shopping, and boating, they also have golfing. There are a total of 6 golf courses here that were rated among the top destinations in the U.S. Golf Magazine. The courses in Traverse City must be worth checking out for all of you who like to Golf! Here's one that looked really interesting to me!
I think that Traverse City would be a great spot for all of you looking for a short vacation. It sounds like they have a ton to offer! This probably wouldn’t be one of the best places to bring young children to entertain, but it sounds like a great destination for teens and adults. If you don’t have enough time to spend a whole day here to rent a boat or get a round of golf in, it seems that the scenery itself is worth a shot. Another idea would be to take a drive through the city and just see what it’s like. From the pictures I’ve seen it looks really beautiful! Here’s a link that has a bunch of other festivals and activities they put on throughout the year. Check it out!
