Los Angeles

Another great vacation that I had in California was spent in Los Angeles. It is such an active place that everyone is guaranteed to find something to do. My family stayed at the Marriott in LA, which was a basic hotel with a restaurant, bar, small pool, and rooms. If you are looking for a regularly priced hotel for a few nights, it is perfect. However, there are several other hotels that should be featured on this page which offer other benefits outside of your average hotel.
As far as activities, we were only there for a few days so it was hard to find anything too extravagant. What we did do was take a shuttle bus into downtown LA. The ride there isn’t very exciting, however the people that you will see and the places around are definitely worth it! There are tourists in LA from all over the world… sometimes you will even be able to spot a celebrity. Downtown there is an average shopping mall with basic stores. Along the streets are a lot of clubs and bars with some small gift shops. As boring as I might make it sound, I guess it is one of those places you just have to see for yourself because it is actually very lively. If you do not like crowds I would not suggest LA because it is a very busy place. Also, at night you must be careful with whatever you do. We were on the shuttle back and there were some very sketchy things going on. The streets along the way back also looked like there were some bad areas. So, just be careful!
Remember how I told you we went to a “mini Rodeo Drive” in Palm Springs? Well, the real Rodeo Drive is located right here! This is a place where you are likely to spot celebrities. The shops along this road are the best of the best and very upscale. The average person would have fun just looking in these- without a purchase in mind. Let alone the fact that it would be really cool to see where all the celebrities are prone to go shopping, the area is beautiful!

I loved LA! But we were only there for about 3 hours waiting on a connecting flight to Hawaii. In that 3 hours though my family and I did so much. We probably walked around LAX about a million times trying to find something to do. Eventually we got some food at the McDonalds close to our gate and even saw Akon walk right by us! I was just charging my cell phone and I see this guy walk by and I tapped my sister on the shoulder and was like Carrie isn't that Akon? She said "OMG that is Akon!" So our little 3 hour time slot in LA was very cool and unique.
