Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

Santa Cruz is great place to spend a romantic day with your spouse or a day of bonding with your family and friends. My family took a vacation to San Jose when I was about 10 years old. We spent one of the days at Santa Cruz and had a very nice day along the beach. The nice part about it was that it was a very nice beach but it was not overcrowded. It is mostly family oriented but that’s not to say it wouldn’t be a place for you and your friends or spouse. After relaxing on the beach, we went to a small pizza restaurant right off the beach. There are multiple places to eat that are just a walk up the beach and very convenient…which is what makes it so nice. There are shops all along the strip that sell souvenirs and clothes. Coming from a shop-a-holic, Santa Cruz isn’t a place to go for strictly shopping; however the strip is a nice break to get out of the sun and see what they have to offer.
Unfortunately, I did not get to go to what seems to be the most exciting part of Santa Cruz Boardwalk…the amusement park! This is obviously a step down from Disneyland, but it does the job for children. The amusement park has several rollercoasters, including the famous Giant Dipper, along with an arcade, bowling, and mini golf. The best part about all of this is that it is right along the beachfront of Monterey Bay.
The park is open on weekends and holidays and it is free admission. To participate in the action, there are separate tickets to buy along with season passes. Check out the website for the specifics. If you are planning to go here, you don’t have to worry about the age of your children because there is something for everyone. Whether they are sitting on the beach or riding a rollercoaster, I’m sure you’re family will have fun at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk!
