When I think of Michigan I think of log cabins right on the beach and chilly evening nights, but there is even more. When looking for places to stay in Michigan there are so many possibilities from camping, to hotels, to even cabins. One place I highly recommend is The Grand Hotel. The Grand Hotel is located on Mackinac Island. It's right off the top of Michigan. To get there you have to ride a ferry across and there are no cars even allowed on the island. Every ones gets around either by walking, bikes, or horse and carriage rides. I've taken the horse and carriage rides and I suggest them for little kids. They will just have the best time riding on one. Biking around is a huge attraction there. You can even rent bikes and the roads run all the way around the island so you can get a great look around.
The main thing that comes to mind when I think of The Grand Hotel is the dining. The possibilities of things to eat are endless. Evening attire is normally worn to dinner and after you are welcome to check out The Grand Hotel Orchestra. For younger kids lunch is normally more appropriate. As you walk down the buffet lines there are so many different kinds of food you don't know what to pick and you can't fit it all on your plate! I guarantee you will be back up for seconds or at least to check out the desserts. There are waiters and waitresses all around to help clean up if you're ready for more. As soon as you get up for your next plate someone will be by to pick up your plate and clean your area. It is a one-of-a-kind lunch. The Grand Hotel was voted one of the ten kid-friendliest resorts in the United States and Canada by Travel & Leisure Magazine. It's a great place to take a trip in Michigan and from experience I recommend trying it out.
